Journalists are often beaten and even killed by terrorists while doing professional work. There is no special law in the country for the protection of journalists. There is no alternative to legislation to protect journalists.
According to media reports, hospital, copy of the case and investigation, on the afternoon of June 3, 22, the chief news editor of the daily Shahnama, joint editor of the Barisal Metropolitan Press Club, president of the Barisal Online Journalists Union and senior journalist Mamunur Rashid Nomani. Nomani bought food from the local market for her mother and went to Zahid’s shop. He ordered tea. A group of murderers led by Delwar, Alam, Fazle Haque, Kalu Mollah, Hossain Ali, Ferdous, Aminul and Dulal attacked Nomani with a sharp weapon including a Chinese ax before taking a sip. The assassins stabbed Nomani in the head with a Chinese ax.

Why plan to kill this:
The illegal committee of the Challishkahnia Haji Bari Mosque and the said circle are working with Delwar, Alam, Fazle Haque, Kalu Mollah, Hossain Ali, Ferdous, Aminul and Dulal to evict a gate and a half-century graveyard inscribed Tayeba, Allahu and Muhammad. The murderous clique appealed to the administration to exhume the tomb and plan to evict a gate and a half-century-old cemetery inscribed with Tayyiba, Allahu and Muhammad in Kalema.

On 30 March 22, local innocent people and worshipers held a press conference and protested against the plan.
The news of this press conference and protest was published on 31 March ’22 in Barisal Khabar, an online news portal edited by journalist Mamunur Rashid Nomani. Shortly after the news broke, the assassins held a series of meetings in the first week of April to assassinate journalist Nomani.

After the news was published in Barisal Khabar, the murderous clique moved away from the plan to demolish the gate and half a century old graveyard inscribed with Tayeba, Allahu and Muhammad in Kalema and went on a mission to kill journalist Nomani.
In its continuation, on June 3, ’22, Nomani was stabbed with a Chinese ax to kill journalist Nomani. When his mother and sister Nomani came to the rescue, they were also beaten and beaten. Journalist Nomani’s mother was seriously injured and was beaten and her arm was broken. Journalist Nomani’s death was confirmed and the murderous clique left with joy.

Who kills Allah, who kills Allah. God has saved Nomani. A picture of Nomani hitting a Chinese ax on the head clearly shows how horrible the killers are.

Soon after the house, local people admitted Nomani to Rajapur and then to the surgery ward of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal. The operation is performed. Nomani fainted after the attack. Getting knowledge back again and again and losing knowledge again.

Nomani’s knowledge of successful operation and rapid treatment of doctors returned.

Journalist Nomani died after the news broke at around 10 pm. Hundreds of people rushed to the hospital.

Those who saw the journalist Nomani cried seeing the horror of blood and injuries.
Seeing the horror of the injury, people thought Nomani was no more in this world.

Nomani was admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on June 3. On June 6, his relatives took him to Dhaka for advanced treatment with a clearance from Sher-e-Bangla. Nomani is currently undergoing treatment under surgery specialist Dr. SM Nazrul Islam and ear, nose and throat specialist Dr Muhinuzzaman Muhin. There are ten stitches in the place of his head injury. Regular dressings are still required at the wound site due to infection.

Meanwhile, journalist Nomani was collecting information by searching against a ring of counterfeit money. Counterfeit money traders get caught. They also join hands with the murderous clique. Besides the local goat thief, cow thief gang also joins the killer gang.

The journalist has worked tirelessly for the development of Nomani area including electricity, embankments and law and order. On his initiative, Rajapur Thana has organized exchange meetings with the police more than once to keep the law and order situation normal and to keep vigil at night. Also set up a library in the area.

These were not tolerated by the killers. Besides, he was always vocal against the embezzlement of lakhs of rupees by Challiskahnia Manab Kalyan Samiti, goat and cow thieves, counterfeit money traders, gates inscribed with Kalemaye Tayeba, Allahu and Muhammad and eviction of half a century old graveyard. Journalist Nomani is a true writer and publisher of true news.

Nomani’s sister Lipi has filed a case with the Rajapur Police Station accusing eight people of murder. The accused did not stop cutting Nomani. Defendant Dulal’s wife has filed a counter case against three members of Nomani’s family and six others, including two who came to see Nomani at the hospital after the attack and three others who were not at the scene, alleging false, fabricated and untrue allegations.

Meanwhile, the accused who did not take bail from the wise court and those who did, went to Nomani’s house and threatened to burn Nomani’s mother. The administration was informed after the threat. Nomani’s mother has filed a general diary with the Rajapur police station over the incident.

According to several locals, journalist Nomani has always protested against injustice and published truthful news, so the murderous clique has hatched to kill him. Godfather is behind them. Although these godfathers have no source of income, they own crores of rupees. Drawing the attention of the ACC, the locals said that the cat will come out of the bag only after the ACC authorities search.
Due to the fact that journalist Nomani is vocal against these illegal black money owners, there may be a plan to kill Nomani with that murderous cycle.

Talking to local journalists in Rajapur, Samakal correspondent Rahim Reza said the main reason for the attack on the media was that all the people were working illegally. Terrorist and murderous gangs became enraged when news was published against these illegal activities. After the news was published, they attacked the journalists. Then they beat and killed him. Rahim Reza said that journalism is facing risk day by day. To reduce the risk to journalists, the government and the law enforcement agencies and the organizations of journalists must come forward to assert the rights of journalists and protect them.

Sayem, a local journalist, said, “Journalists have been attacked at different times. Most of the time, influential people are involved in these attacks. As a result, it goes without saying that these incidents are not judged. It is this culture of impunity that is fueling the attacks on journalists. ”

“If every incident is properly judged, it will be possible to reduce the unwanted incidents to a great extent. But the biggest task will be to change the mentality of the society. Because the real incident cannot be hidden by being violent on the journalist. The media as a mirror of society, the larger society will benefit only if the influential people correct themselves without attacking its workers.
Journalist Sayem added that if someone does a good job, it comes in the media positively, and by doing a bad job, positive coverage cannot be expected. And controlling it with muscle power is tantamount to barbarism.

Alamgir Sharif, a social worker and development activist, said the job of journalists is to present the right picture of society to the nation. That is why journalists are called the mirror of society. Tortured people are the last refuge of journalists. And the journalists highlighted in front of the nation the happiness, sorrow, laughter, tears, success and failure of the disadvantaged people.

Journalist Nomani has not always compromised with anyone in publishing true news. The forty-story Haji Bari has published news against the eviction of the gate and half-century-old cemetery inscribed with Tayyiba, Allahu and Muhammad in Kalema adjacent to the mosque. He has been tortured because of this news. Came back from the brink of death.

He said it was unacceptable for a person in an independent country to be tortured in the line of duty. We want a fair investigation and trial of the heinous incident against journalist Nomani.

Several local journalists, social workers and development activists have said that journalist Mamunur Rashid Nomani is an honest and courageous journalist. He has never compromised with injustice. His job is to help people in times of danger. The attack on him is unfortunate. They said that it is the job of a journalist to convey the news to the people. Those who are hurt by the news are tortured by the journalists. However, the general public is not usually on the list of torture of journalists. Journalists can be harassed and tortured only if the poles are strong. These poles can be political influence, power grab, black money, etc.

In this regard, Kazi Abul Kalam Azad, President of Barisal Metropolitan Press Club and President of Barisal Publishers and Editors’ Council, said that the more difficult journalism is, the more difficult it is to survive in love.
These attacks-cases-torture-killings are making the profession of journalism more and more risky day by day. The media is the fourth state or fourth pillar of the state. We are global citizens of the information technology age. The free flow of information cannot be ensured by torturing media personnel. If there is no free flow of information, the freedom of press and media will also be curtailed. Attacks, lawsuits and torture of journalists may lead to the creation of a freedom of the media, but its implementation is not possible. Therefore, we have to stand up for the freedom of the press and the media by judging the heinous torture on the journalist Nomani. There is no impunity for the perpetrators.

Expressing concern over the attack on journalist Nomani, Kazi Miraj Mahmud, general secretary of Barisal Publishers and Editors’ Council, said, “We demand the administration to bring the attackers under the law and bring them to justice.” I hope the administration will respond to our request. Let the Godfathers be investigated as well. Who ordered the attack? It is also important to know.

Regarding the attack, journalist Nomani said, “On my way back to Barisal from my home on June 3, a group of 20/25 people including Delwar, Alam, Fazle Haque, Kalu Mollah, Hossain Ali, Ferdous, Aminul and Dulal took various sharp weapons including Chinese axes before they understood anything.” Attacked. At the time of the attack, they were saying, “Why did you tell me about the grave and the gate? I will kill you today.” I will reduce the juice. I will slaughter you. Nomani thanked the police administration and said that due to the activities of the administration, the killers could not set fire to Nomani’s house or cause any other incident.

After reviewing the incidents of human rights violations, multiple domestic and foreign organizations have prepared reports of human rights violations in various fields including torture of journalists.

At least 118 journalists have been attacked in the first five months of this year, according to Article Nineteen, an international media organization. The organization has also expressed deep concern over the brutal killing of three media workers in the last three months.
Farooq Faisal, South Asia’s regional director for Article Nineteen, expressed concern over the torture of journalists and called for exemplary punishment for those responsible.

Meanwhile, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an international media organization, demanded justice for those responsible for the attack on journalist Nomani. They are shocked by the attack on Nomani.

The attackers Alam, Dulal, Delwar and others could not be reached for comment as their mobile phones were switched off.

Meanwhile, various media organizations and professional organizations including human rights organizations have staged human chains, demonstrations and statements in different parts of the country including Dhaka and Barisal demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the attackers.
